Youth Sports

YMCA Youth Sports programs promote healthy kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition, and the value of participation over winning and team building. Parents are encouraged to be more than mere spectators by contributing their time as volunteer coaches and team parents as well as being their kid’s number one fan.

We’re creating team players and future leaders through team sports. Kids get a chance to learn good sportsmanship and teamwork as they practice fundamental skills while having a whole lot of fun. Volunteer coaches provide an additional role model for kids. Your kids will develop friendships and you’ll build a network of like-minded parents.

Youth Sports at the YMCa Include:

 Soccer

Gooooooal! You’ll love the Youth Soccer program at our Y because it’s an exciting blend of team play and individual skills. There are no try-outs, no one gets cut and we promise there are no benchwarmers! Every child plays at least half of every game while making friends and learning new soccer skills and techniques.

Youth Soccer at our Y is a progressive soccer development program with featuring age-specific levels. We teach kids to become not only better soccer players, but also better people too.

  Spring / Fall - Age 2- 14

  Basketball

Got game? Hit the hardwood with the folks who invented basketball in the first place: The Y!

James Naismith, a teacher at the international YMCA training school, invented basketball in 1891. He was challenged to create a game that could be played indoors during the cold winter months. By hanging simple peach baskets and using a soccer ball, Naismith created the game of basketball and wrote the first 13 rules of the game.

Spring / Winter - Grades K3- 8th

Girls Volleyball

Hit the courts with the folks who actually invented the game of volleyball - the Y!

Did you know volleyball was originally called “mintonette”? Try saying that out loud! Originally the game used something similar to a badminton net, and combined elements of basketball, the German game of fistball and handball - what a combination! The Y’s very first volleyball game was played at Springfield College in 1896.

Almost 120 years later, we still love teaching kids and teens the basic volleyball fundamentals, such as underhand serving, passing, setting, hitting and digging. Our youth volleyball programs and volleyball clinics teach all the skills of the game while emphasizing good sportsmanship, teamwork and goal-setting in a fun atmosphere.

  Spring / Fall - Grades 3rd-10th

Flag Football

Huddle up‚ flag football is here! Whether your child is new to the sport or isn’t quite ready for tackle football, this recreational program is perfect for kids between the grades K3 -10.

Fun for boys and girls, flag football teaches kids basic rules, strategies and skills to enjoy the game. Playing in a challenging, non-competitive environment, we keep players focused on the fundamentals of the game, maintaining good sportsmanship and, most importantly, having FUN!

  Fall - Grades K3 - 8th
